Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado ran their first online auction with cMarket in conjunction with their EICS 2007 fundraising event to benefit educational classes for consumers and businesses.

The BBB of SC, based in Colorado Springs, is dedicated to building and maintaining strong relationships between businesses and consumers through public education. As a nonprofit organization, their fundraising efforts support their goal of creating an ethical marketplace for both businesses and consumers alike. They turned to cMarket to enhance their live event and to place their auction catalog on the web to appeal to a larger community.

The Better Business Bureau wasted no time taking full advantage of cMarket’s services. They started by opting into BiddingForGood, our online auction portal, to reach a wider audience and promote their organization to the greater public. They had also solicited numerous items from their members and the community, but they chose to use cMarket’s online consignment store to boost their auction catalog as well. They featured three cMarket Place items including a Hot Air Balloon Ride, a golf vacation to Scotland and an exotic getaway to the Canary Islands.

In addition to cMarket’s added services, the BBB also applied effective techniques that helped them raise even more money during their live auction. For example, a 14K tanzanite and diamond ring generated a high bid of $574 during their online bidding process. They were able to use this figure as the opening bid in the room. Thus, the ring sold for more than double the price at their live auction for $1,250.

At the close of their fundraising event, the BBB of SC raised over $13,000 from their cMarket online auction alone. They were able to add another exciting element to their in-room fundraiser that resulted in more participation and more revenue for their services.
