Originally designed as affordable housing, the Salem YMCA was first founded in 1858 making Salem the oldest YMCA on the North Shore. For over 150 years the Salem YMCA has been ever changing, ensuring that as needs change the Y continues to meet its mission in providing programs and services that make an impact.
The Salem Y has plenty of programs and amenities to keep their 3,500 adult members happy and involved at the Salem YMCA. The aerobics studio, locker rooms and pool guarantee a pleasurable experience for every visit. With two pools they have enough water to meet the needs of all ages and interests from swim lessons to lap swimming to water aerobics to the swim team.

Membership in the Salem YMCA includes access to all YMCA of the North Shore participating sites, including: Salem, Lynch/van Otterloo in Marblehead, Greater Beverly, Ipswich, Cape Ann in Gloucester, and Haverhill.
