This item is a beautiful 1998 $5.00 uncirculated Gold American Eagle Coin produced by the US Mint.  The coin is actually 1/10th Ounce of pure gold, and is encapsulated in a clear plastic protective case.  It is graded MS 69 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America, one of the top coin graders.  This coin is without toning or spots and would make a wonderful gift for any coin collector, or may be kept as an investment.  Currently,  production of the Gold Eagle coins has been suspended the by US Mint. News taken from the Mint website is below:

"The United States Mint will resume the American Eagle Gold Proof and Uncirculated Coin Programs once sufficient inventories of gold bullion blanks can be acquired to meet market demand for all three American Eagle Gold Coin products. Additionally, as a result of the recent numismatic product portfolio analysis, fractional sizes of American Eagle Gold Uncirculated Coins will no longer be produced."
