Czech Glassworks Bowl
Item Information
Estimated Value $185.00
Item Number 709
Item Description
Glass and crystal have the same meaning in the Czech language. Popular Czech Bohemian lead crystal dates back to the Renaissance, when abundant natural crystal was discovered throughout the Czech Republic. Bohemia was formerly a part of Czechoslovakia, now known as the Czech Republic, and continues to be famous for its beautiful and colorful glass.
This elegant pedestal presentation bowl measures approximately 17" in length, 6.5" inches wide and no more than 3" deep. However, the bowl stands 5 " high from its base. The warm apricot-amber color floats in a clear leaded glass form. Edges are softly folded with pinched design elements where the bowl settles into the base. We chose citrus to illustrate the bowl's capacity. It could easily float flowers or ornamental elements.
For centuries, Czech Bohemian crystal glass has been a synonym of beauty and perfect workmanship quality. As far back as the beginning of the 18th century, crystal chandeliers and glass products of Bohemia were popular, and European rulers of major importance decorated their palaces with Bohemian glass. Even today, at the beginning of the 21st century, Bohemian high-quality glass is made in small family-enterprises using traditional methods, emphasizing the quality and uniqueness of the precise manual workmanship. We are certain this exquisite bowl would be a welcome addition to any home.
