Item Description

2 tickets to the Asian Art Museum

The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco is one of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian art. But we are more than just an art museum-we are your ticket to Asia. Here, you can travel through 6,000 years of history, trek across seven major regions, and sample the cultures of numerous countries.

2 tickets to San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is a dynamic center for modern and contemporary art. The Museum strives to engage and inspire a diverse range of audiences by pursuing an innovative program of exhibitions, education, publications, and collections activities. International in scope, while reflecting the distinctive character of our region, the Museum explores compelling expressions of visual culture.

Current exhibit: "Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures From the National Museum, Kabul."

10/19/08, the San Francisco Chronicle writes:

"The succession of conflicts in Afghanistan - starting with the Soviet invasion in 1979 and continuing through the post-9/11 toppling of the Taliban - decimated the country's infrastructure for arts and archaeology. Museums were bombed and plundered. Historic sites were raided for artifacts that were sold on the black market. The Taliban's reign was especially cruel: Government leaders deliberately sought out and destroyed sculpture, paintings and other artwork they considered blasphemous. Afghan curators and ordinary workers risked their lives to save what they could. The stories of these selfless acts - like that of Omara Khan Massoudi, who hid ancient jewels in an underground vault that required seven keys - are what's behind the glittering gold that will be on display at the Asian Art Museum."

$100 Gift Certificate for dinner at the Jeanne d'Arc at the Cornell Hotel de France

"If you want to get away from the crowds, this is a nice place for a quiet dinner. Service has been impeccable. Every time I've had the four-course prix fix meal (lobster bisque soup, choice of spinach or mixed salad, choice of entree - I usually get the salmon or sea bass - served with veggies, and apple tart or souffle), the food has been hearty and delicious. I always come away overstuffed. Get the souffle!"  -Peg S. from yelp.com
