About the artist - Deborah K. Schenk
I grew up on a family farm in Rupert, Idaho, where I spent my childhood days in the outdoors, both working and playing hard. From a young age, my parents instilled us with a respect for the land, an appreciation of nature, and a love for all living things. Camping trips to the Idaho Mountains were always the highlight of our summers. As an adult, I still feel a strong connection to nature, and find inspiration in the beauty of the Idaho outdoors.
My art reflects this inspiration and I create pieces emphasizing the lines, shadows, colors and textures found in nature. My principle medium is clay, but I also work in charcoal, pencil, watercolor, as well as printmaking. My formal education includes a B.S. in Education, Secondary Science, from the University of Idaho and a B.A. in Visual Arts from Boise State University.
