Exceptional for its amazingly detailed coloring, its extremely fine cutting (look at each petal!), and its unusually grand size, this Chinese paper cutting from the Shan-Xi Province is a unique piece. Others of its technical and artistic quality are very rare even in China and simply not to be found in the West!This beautiful work was created much like a woodcut, using layer after layer of heavy paper moulds whose various intricate shapes allow the different paint colors to be placed and bled onto the finer paper. Then, with a very fine (and sharp!) knife, the final cutting was made—very carefully.

Gorgeous in any home, from traditional to modern, Victorian to Art Deco, formal to casual.
