Item Description

The 2006 ‘TEAM' Bike by Trek:  Madone SSL 6.9:

ACTUAL BIKE MODEL USED BY THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL PRO CYCLING TEAM FROM THE 2006 TOUR DE FRANCE!!!!!!

For the last seven years, Trek Bicycles has redefined the notion of high performance with carbon fiber bicycles.  Before Trek and LANCE ARMSTRONG reached the start line of the 1999 Tour de France, not only had no other rider ever ridden a carbon fiber bicycle in every stage of the race, but no carbon bike had ever been used to win an overall event.

  • For the 2006 Tour de France, Trek engineers introduced a high performance bike capable of winning the world's toughest race - the Madone SSL 6.9.
  • With the world's first sub-900 gram, traditional/horizontal top tube frame and the first to use actual Defense Grade High Modulus carbon fiber, the Madone SSL 6.9 uses a hybrid laminate of OCLV 55 Carbon and a totally new OCLV HM Carbon.
  • Carbon-fiber frames balance light weight with high strength.  These frames are so tough, the machine that tested its durability broke before the bike did.
  • Lightness is important but so is stiffness:  The more rigid the frame the more pedal power can be transferred to the road.
  • As new tires age they grow more soft and supple, making them less prone to blowouts.  The Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team used tires that have been ‘ripening' in their chief mechanic's cellar in Belgium for up to six years.
