Description: 1930's light fixture with glass dorknob with copper dust. The Role of Art in Urban America places the artist in the center as artist, observer, activist. The role of the artist is to recycle, remember, and revive with new meaning so that when we gather round the table with our loved ones, we see the inherent beauty in all the city has to offer, from fixtures to doorknobs. The artist's building was erected between 1926 and 1928. This fixture is from the 1930's, with a gas converter/adaptor to accomodate the new incandescent bulb. The incandescent bulb is now being phased out for energy efficient ecofriendly versions.
