Item Description

If you would like to create a panel for the AIDS quilt project but are intimidated by the process of quilting, experienced quiltmaker and teacher Mimi Winder will donate a day in her studio to help you begin the process. She will help you create the initial design and concept for the panel which may incorporate a variety of techniques and materials, such as photos and writings transferred to fabric, clothing and personal articles. We will explore options for creating a meaningful panel and develop a clear understanding of how to finish the project. The expectation is that the initial concept and design will be accomplished during the workshop, but that further work will be necessary to complete the panel. Mimi will continue to be available as a resource and consultant to help complete the project.

Special Instructions

Time and date to be arranged with Mimi Winder. The project will be limited to one panel, but Mimi is open to working with a group. In addition to her own studio work, Mimi lectures and teaches quiltmaking and has been a faculty member of the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Her teaching style encourages students to develop their individual creativity. She began quiltmaking in 1976 during the quilt revival of the bicentennial.
