Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause. Compared to healthy bone, the bones of a child or adult with OI are like chalk. Rolling over in bed or putting on a T shirt can cause a fracture. The mission of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) Foundation is to improve the quality of life for people with OI through research to find treatments and a cure, education, awareness, and mutual support. The OI Foundation holds a Biennial National Conference for families impacted by OI; produces informational fact sheets, books, and other resources; and funds approximatley $1 million in research activities each year.
