Baltimore Reads Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that has served the Baltimore City Metropolitan community since 1988. Since its inception, Baltimore Reads has improved the quality of life for educationally disadvantaged adults and children and provided the keys to economic and social empowerment. Today, close to 142,350 adults in Baltimore City are without high school diplomas, 31% of the City's adult population. Only 54% of Baltimore's public school students are graduating compared with the statewide average of 85%. Participants in Baltimore Reads programs gain the necessary skills for self-sufficiency, employment, and life-long learning. Please join us for our 20th Anniversary Gala: "The Best of Baltimore Reads: The First 20 Years" on Saturday, January 24th. In conjunction with this effort, we are hosting an online and on-site silent auction. Please check back often, as new items will be added frequently as we prepare for this big event!
