The St. Tammany Art Association (STAA) was founded in 1958 by a small group of civic-minded individuals dedicated to bringing art to western St. Tammany Parish. Today the Art Association is a non-profit, community and member supported arts organization with over 800 members that serves as a catalyst for the arts. Located in the heart of historic downtown Covington, STAA provides exhibitions, educational arts programming and cultural enrichment for the communities north of and surrounding Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. Our galleries display a wide variety of styles and media, changing exhibitions every month. Operated by community volunteers, working artists, and arts educators, STAA produces solo and group shows, regular showings of Association members and open competitions with cash awards for artists at least once per year. The organization bolsters the local economy by presenting events throughout the year, from concerts and theatre productions to film festivals and book-readings by local authors.
