Parents Helping Parents, Inc. (PHP) is a nonprofit, community-based family resource center located in the San Francisco Bay Area. PHP serves children of any age (birth through adult) who have any disability or chronic or life-threatening illness such as seizures, allergies, or cancer. Founded in 1976 by parents of children with Down syndrome, we continue to be a parent-directed organization. Our mission is to help children with special needs receive the resources, love, hope, respect, healthcare, education and other services they need to achieve their full potential by providing them with strong families, dedicated professionals, and responsive systems of care. We offer parent education, training and support though our programs which include mentoring and peer counseling, a comprehensive special needs library, on-line services, condition and culturally-specific Parent/professional Education and Network Support groups, trainings on navigating systems of care, an assistive technology center, and more. PHP is an award-winning agency earning recognition as the National Model for Parent Directed Family Resource Centers, is a federally funded Parent Training and Information Center, is a state appointed Family Empowerment Center and is Santa Clara County's family resource center for early intervention.
