Combining fun and fund raising the Jennie Edmundson Foundation hopes to surpass its goal of raising $100,000 for the Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center’s Charitable Cancer Fund.  This year’s Spirit of Courage Celebrity Weekend will be held August 14-16^th, 2009.  Activities are planned to appeal to a wide variety of tastes, but all will help local cancer patients at Jennie Edmundson who are in need of financial assistance.

The weekend starts on Friday, August 14^th, plan on joining us at the Horseshoe’s Whisky Roadhouse.  Candlebox, will take the stage at 8p.m.  Rock lovers will enjoy a great performance.  Who knew philanthropy could sound so good?

Golfers around the area know that each year Jennie Edmundson’s Shotgun Scramble at Dodge Riverside is one of the most fun ways to give to a good cause and enjoy a day on the links.   Accompanying each grouping will be a local or national celebrity from television, sports or music.   Participants will drive for a car give away from Todd Archer Hyundai and compete for other fun prizes at many of the holes.  Golfers reserve your spot today for the Saturday, August 15^th Golf Tournament by calling the Volunteer Department at 712-396-6040, spots fill up quick...only four spots left! 

Following, that evening at the ballroom at Harrah’s will be a dinner to honor this year’s Spirit of Courage Award Recipients.  Family, friends and the community will gain inspiration from those chosen.  Cliff “Rink” Holly, Dr. Dennis Jones, Brady Jorgensen and Carol Reeder will be honored with the Spirit of Courage Award because of the example they’ve shown in their fight to concur cancer.  Additional fund will be raised through a silent and oral auction. 

Online bidding will start on July 27, 2009 and will run through August 12^th, 2009, check back frequently during that time to make sure you are still the winning bid and/or any new items added!

Are there any poker players out there?  A No Limit Texas Hold’em Poker tournament is planned for Sunday August 16^th.
