     By supporting the ArkAngels for Russian Orphans (Tax ID# 20-8282131) auction, you’ll receive:
•    The satisfaction of knowing you are helping improve the lives of Russian children with little hope.
•    A tax deduction.
•    Exposure to adoptive parents, their friends and families and others interested in the children of Eastern Europe.
   
    According to the U.S. State Department, in the last decade, American families have adopted more than 60,000 Eastern European orphans. Adoptive families also typically have a higher income than the average American family, making them the perfect customer for your company.

    Your items will be added to our online catalog within one week of your donation and will continue to be visible there until the auction closes in November. So the earlier you donate, the more exposure you will receive. In addition, we will:
•    Highlight each item you donate on its own page in our online catalog and include on that page your logo and a link to your web site, giving interested customers easy access to your online store to shop directly.
•    Send regular e-mail updates to our database of committed sponsors, donors, friends and volunteers starting in mid-October and running through the end of the auction in mid-December to promote the auction.
•    Feature the auction prominently on our homepage at http://arkangels.org.
•    Run a media campaign promoting the auction targeting magazines, web sites, blogs and other outlets that target those interested in Russia and/or adoption.
•    Hightlight “featured items” like yours on any promotions or our homepage or elsewhere, adding to your exposure.

    In Russia there are more than 700,000 orphans living in 2,000 state-run orphanages. That doesn't include the estimated 2 million to 4 million homeless children living on the streets throughout Russia.

    Only a few thousand are adopted each year – many by American families. The rest must leave the orphanage between the ages of 16 and 18. For those children, the odds are stacked against them:

•    50 percent of the girls become prostitutes
•    40 percent of the children will commit other crimes.
•    40 percent become addicted to drugs or alcohol
•    10 percent commit suicide

    In fact, just 1 in 10 former Russian orphans becomes a functional member of society.

    Which is why Mike and Lisa Finneran, who adopted twins from Russia, founded ArkAngels for Russian Orphans in 2006.

    “When we visited the twins’ orphanage, we met so many fabulous kids, so few of whom would ever be adopted,” ArkAngels Presidnet Lisa Finneran said. “It broke our hearts to know that these children faced a very bleak future. We wanted to do something to improve their odds by improving their childhood, and as a result their outlook for the future.”
