About the Russell Aquatic Ecology Exhibit

The exhibit will measure 6,535 square feet and occupy the current Aquatic Wing site as well as a section of the large adjacent Bongo display yard.   It will feature: a shark encounter, a ray “touch pool,” native Texas salt and freshwater sport fish displays, a mangrove tank, a grassbed habitat, and a jetties exhibit.  Colorful, suspended educational banners and graphics will communicate key concepts concerning ecosystems and the need to preserve them.

We Still Need Your Support

The Zoo wants to constuct a permanent exhibit that will educate the public about marine creatures.  You can support our worthy endeavor by attending one or both nights of our live event, or make a donation to our cause.  Download a ticket order form at http://www.gpz.org/zoofari.html.  Each contribution helps the Zoo get one step closer to bringing a stingray touch tank, sharks, sea turtles, and other aquatic creatures to the Rio Grande Valley.
