We Had A Wonderful Night!
WKYC Weatherman Mark Nolan served as Master of Ceremonies and led us through the activities and events. Be sure to watch him each day on the 6 o'clock news - his forecast and support of LEAP are unbeatable!
Jerry Pae of Star DJ USA featured music and fun in spirit with our Aloha theme.
The evening began at 6:00pm when LEAP recognized Senator Sherrod Brown for his ongoing commitment to people with disabilities, and for his efforts this year for specific appropriations. Special thanks to Senator Brown for consistent support of LEAP and its mission!
We also expressed appreciation for those state legislators who have worked to pass Ohio's Medicaid Buy-in program. This program will allow people who rely on Medicaid to earn more income and retain more assets.

Thanks for your interest in LEAP and its mission to ensure a society of equal opportunities for all persons, regardless of disability. We are a Center for Independent Living with offices in both Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties.
Our Doris Brennan Center for Disability Education and Advocacy provides information and referral services, advocacy notices, and independent living skills training. 2007 saw the introduction of the Quantum LEAP recreation program which includes quarterly activities such as kickball, yoga, fishing, and a walking club. The Doris Brennan Center in Lorain County offers a low vision program for individuals 55 years and older.
The Center for Personal Assistance program trains people to become Personal Care Attendants, State Tested Nurses Assistants (STNA), and Dining Assistants. For high school students who have disabilities, our Job Link program provides opportunities to make a successful transition from school to work. Our Community Employment program helps individuals find appropriate job matches within the person's community.
LEAP also offers Assistive Technology Services for people to explore different trackballs or keyboards and to try software like JAWS (screen-reading for those who have limited or no vision) and Dragon NaturallySpeaking (voice recognition to input text without using the keyboard). Finally, our Public Policy Center advocates for and promotes change in legislation and policy to include opportunities for full inclusion of people who have disabilities in all aspects of community life.
Also thanks to the individuals who have contributed!
